How to Reset Your Bluesky Password
February 2026 · 3 min read
Locked out of your Bluesky account? The password reset process is straightforward, but there are a few things worth knowing, especially if you have more than one account tied to the same email address.
Steps to Reset Your Bluesky Password
Go to the Bluesky login page
Open bsky.app in your browser or launch the Bluesky mobile app. Tap or click Sign In.
Tap "Forgot password?"
On the sign-in screen, look for the Forgot password? link below the password field and tap it.
Enter your email address
Type the email address linked to your account. If multiple Bluesky accounts share that email, the screen will show a list so you can select the correct one.
Check your email for a reset code
Bluesky sends a numeric reset code to your inbox. If you do not see it within a few minutes, check your spam or junk folder.
Enter the code and set a new password
Back in Bluesky, enter the reset code, then type your new password and confirm it. Tap Reset Password to finish.
Multiple Accounts on the Same Email
A common problem: if you created a main account and an alternate account using the same email address, the password reset flow can feel confusing. On the reset screen, Bluesky should present a list of accounts linked to that email so you can select the right one.
If you are not seeing the account selector, try using the Bluesky mobile app rather than the web version, as the interface can differ between platforms.
Tip: To avoid this confusion in the future, consider using a separate email address for each Bluesky account, or store your passwords in a password manager.
Troubleshooting
- · No reset email? Check spam/junk. Wait a few minutes, then try requesting the code again. Make sure your email address is spelled correctly.
- · Code expired? Reset codes are time-limited. If yours expired, start the process again from step 1.
- · Lost access to your email? If you no longer have access to the email on your account, contact Bluesky support directly.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does resetting my password affect my App Passwords?
No. Resetting your main password does not automatically revoke App Passwords. Connected apps such as longer.blue will continue to work. To be safe, review your App Passwords in Settings and revoke any you no longer recognize.
What is the difference between my main password and an App Password?
Your main password controls full account access, including changing your email and settings. App Passwords are limited-access tokens you create for specific third-party apps. They cannot alter your main account credentials.
I forgot my Bluesky handle. Can I still reset my password?
Yes. You only need your email address to start the password reset. Your handle is not required for this process.
