NEPTUNIAN INITIATIONS Daily Astrology Fri 6th Nov Earlier this year, there was a Saturn-Neptune conjunction in Aries. It is the main definer of the times we live in. Saturn channelled into this world the fresh vision of Neptune in Aries. Before the conjunction finally comes to an end, it is worth asking yourself what new energy or purpose has entered your life this year. It may not be a huge deal, and you may not yet have words for it. But it has been an initiation of some sort. Life regularly initiates us, if we are open to it. If we resist it, we may get ill. Life is always unfolding, and the movements of the planets show us in what ways. Neptune is the boundless ocean, and he is therefore the soul, which is an intimate part of the whole universe. Life is not ours to plan: our task is to be receptive to these initiations and to live the fuller life that they demand. In particular, there is a new vision (Aries) of the soul (Neptune) to be found. We live in times when we are free to find the path that is right for us but, calamitously, there is no shared sense of the sacred in our civilisation as a whole. My book Chaos Shamanism came out in February, very close to the conjunction, and one of its aims is to grapple with this question: it is a manifesto for a post-Christian West, integrating timeless indigenous principles with the best of our past. It is time, in this respect, to stop chucking the baby of our past out with the bathwater. We humans, protective of our illusory sense of a separate self, cannot take very much of Neptune's reality. His full gaze in fiery Aries would destroy us psychologically. So Saturn has channelled just a bit of it our way. If you are fortunate, something will have made you feel torn apart this year, because that is often the only way the outer planet energies of the raw Spirit can get in. They scorch and sear themselves on our being, and it may feel like something has gone terribly wrong. It may take years of gradual absorption. These energies and initiations are deep things, they are not ours to master and control, but to yield to and live by. Faith that you are taken care of by a benign yet demanding universe is needed, and Neptune is the hotline to that.
