Experts warn that many hormone-disrupting chemicals, including some PFAS “forever chemicals,” can cause harm at levels far below the threshold. The existing loophole has already backfired: after the rocket fuel chemical perchlorate was approved for grain bags, levels in kids’ cereal rose, raising concerns about brain development and lower IQs in children.
