I rarely bother to post anything anymore on this platform, but *gestures everywhere* what the absolute fuck? All of you need to understand the Overton Window: "The Overton window is the range of subjects and arguments politically acceptable to the mainstream population at a given time. It is also known as the window of discourse." In the UK this acceptable discourse has moved since Thatcher further and further right whereby we have a Labout party in power that is indistinguishable from Thatchers 80's policies. The BBC platforms a far right party, Reform with only 0.7% of the total number of MPs in parliament is given 25% of the airtime offered to MPs in government, which *ding ding ding* moves the Overton window further to the right, creating a false sense of what is acceptable dialogue. In the US, the duopoly of Democrats/Republicans has followed the same trajectory since Reagan in the 80's. Politicians in the US of both parties are different cheeks of the same arse. The dems cry that their politicians wouldn't do the things that the Fascists, excuse me republicans would do, yet the policies of both serve business first, accumulation of wealth at the top first, support for a lawless middle eastern colony first, support for heinious immigration rules first, NEVER, N E V E R, we the people first. Dems you are to blame for the Overton window being moved this far right. The truth is that both of these countries politicians are so far out of step with the people. Their is more that unites us then what separates us, but we allow ourselves to be manipulated into hating "THE OTHER", whoever the other is in this political cycle. You are closer to be homeless, than being a billionaire. If we, the non-sociopaths in the world, the other 99% were to treat each other with compassion, dignity and have some empathy, we would be bullet-proof against this slide into a dark, dystopian, fascist, future that seems to be inevitable at this point. Don't give the forces of evil the oxygen of your attention. Remember the words of Shelley's, The Masque of Anarchy: ‘Rise like Lions after slumber In unvanquishable number, Shake your chains to earth like dew Which in sleep had fallen on you – Ye are many – they are few.’ They are the politicians, the billionaires, the capitalists, the owners of media, both print and social... they all require you to hate me. They require you to consume without satiation. They require you to live in a constant state of fear. They require you to look left and right to find the reason for your anger and your sadness... They require this so that you don't identify your true enemy who is above you, "don't look up, we're not to blame, it's them, those, the others". Wake up, we all bleed the same blood, we all love our children, we all just want to live free of tyranny, live free of fear, enjoy the short time we have on this tiny tiny rock in the middle of a possibly infinite universe.
