THE POWER OF SOLITUDE Daily Astrology Fri 2nd Oct Venus stations in Scorpio. A hooded woman averts her gaze away from the world. When Venus goes backwards, the relationship is with oneself. And in Scorpio, it is with the intuitive depths. This requires solitude. It may be literal solitude, or around people who know how to leave you alone. It can be a daemonic thing: the universe arranges your solitude for its own purposes. Humans are very social animals, and even a psychopath suffers in solitary confinement. Solitude takes us out of the herd and its comforts, and into our own individual relationship with all-that-is. Loneliness is generally a loneliness for one's own deeper self. The romantic narrative tells us that we are missing something if we do not have a partner. This is not true, and it is why so many people end up single much of the time as they get older: whether they know it or not, they are forming a deeper relationship with themselves. It is a natural thing. You may need a cat to remind you that you are part of life. That is maybe why witches have familiars! But Venus in Scorpio is peering beyond the veil of life and death, beyond the illusion that they are different things, and into the deep waters of life. And out of that she has the power to create. I write these daily pieces out of solitude. I do them in the local cafe, so that I have life around me. But I remain solitary, and Venus takes me by the hand and shows me what to say.
