History evolves and more often regresses; now it's clearly going backwards. The advantages are obvious; the success of past dynasties is easily replicated: today, a few, very few rich, omnipotent kings, by chance or by inheritance, make everything else expendable, including people. We are a new digital-pharaonic era, with enormous, immeasurable wealth in the hands of a very few who erect gigantic digital pyramids (yes, I'm talking about AI and data centers) that, in the eyes of the population, must appear like a pyramid from 2686 BC. Excellent. Monumental. The pyramids are still visible today, even if we don't see the blood, the dead, BUT above all, today, they are completely USELESS. They represent a period in which someone understood how to overpower and exploit other humans to erect monumental works admired by all. 'Look how great I am!' But they have not actually brought any evolution or advantages for future generations. Egyptian civilization collapsed and today it's little more than a shabby tourist village that overlooks the HUGE pyramids. If you feel like accusing me of socialism, communism, or whatever... I understand. You work in tech, in the coffee shop of a company on Round 3, you've been promised stock options, you want to be rich too and (if you live in the United States) pay for health insurance to live longer, I understand. It's understandable and right. But remember that you are the slave in Egypt carrying the marble blocks to build the useless pyramid; at least be aware of this while you make some money. Then you make the money, or rather, if you have to, steal it.
