I'm going to do a bit of an emotional post. It's been 10 years since I last celebrated my birthday and the reason behind that is my dad (granddad's) birthday is today, or well should be if he was still here with us. Growing up we would always celebrate our birthdays together usually on mine. I shut down when he passed away in 2017 and stopped celebrating my birthday starting that year. Why should I celebrate the life I was given when the man who raised me to be the somewhat honorable person I am is no longer here. I've realized through the past years of suffering that the decision I made was wrong and selfish. The memories of our celebration are cherished and will continue to foster happiness when I think back to them. They say when you turn 18 you've spent roughly 90% of your life with your parents, I'm glad I had known him for 19 years. I love you dad, and I will continue to make you proud.
