š¤ For years, I avoided telling people what I really do. When someone asked, I'd lie; sometimes it was "I build computers." other times, "I sell bricks." My work is niche, and deep down, I also felt self-conscious about making a living working in video games. It didn't always feel like "real" work, so why explain it to get blank stares followed by "oh cool."? Then one day, when I flipped the question back, their answer turned out to be a perfect business connection, one I would have completely missed if they hadn't been open about their work the way I wasn't about mine. That moment changed everything. How many opportunities had I ignored just to avoid a few awkward seconds? How many people out there actually get it, or better yet, work in a space that connects with mine? Fast forward to today, here in South America. The plumber asks me what I do. This time, I own it. I explain our role in flight simulation at Parallel 42 and the joy it brings me. His response? "My son builds custom flight simulators here in Bolivia." Need I say more? The lesson is simple: Own what you do, and let your passion flow. The right people will find you. Ever had a chance encounter turn into something meaningful?
