You don’t need amazing energy to be good socially. If you’ve developed your social skills, you can have a conversation, connect with people, and enjoy yourself even when you’re tired or not in peak state. You can listen, ask good questions, speak your mind, and make people feel comfortable. That’s a real skill. But there’s another level. Being especially charismatic and attractive when your energy is low is harder. When you feel great, it’s easier to be playful, bold, expressive, and spontaneous. You walk into a room and people feel it. The real test is what happens when you *don’t* feel great. Can you still be present? Can you still find the humor? Can you still take a social risk, create a spark, and let your personality come through without needing a perfect mood to carry you? That’s the final frontier of social skill: building enough range that you can connect on an ordinary day and still be magnetic when you’re not at your peak. Energy can take you to another level. Skill is what lets you bring more of yourself to the room even when your energy isn’t there.
