The Midknight Society, an organization that researched and cataloged various supernatural phenomena and threats across the ages, had embarked on their most ambitious expedition yet. Deep within the wilderness of Relex Island laid the temple complex known only as the Weltall, a sanctum that was thought to be the gathering place for a long lost warrior caste. Following what clues had been left to them by previous explorers to the island, a small team led by the professor Sophia Delacroix braved leagues of nigh-impossible terrain and roving bands of monstrous creatures to reach their destination. Upon entering what they believed to be the half-buried remains of the main building, the expedition discovered what appeared to be a tomb sealed within. Further investigation would reveal the body interred was that of a warrior who, as the runes inscribed into the sarcophagus had so seemingly dramatized, 'fell from the heavens'... Intrigued by the sarcophagus's claims, the professor took it upon herself to attempt opening it right then and there. Through the combined effort of the explorers at hand, the lid was carefully removed and the body of a young man laid dormant would be revealed to them. Despite the tomb appearing to be centuries, if not millennia old, the man with appeared to be merely resting as if he had just claimed it as his place of respite only the night before. Delacroix and her team had been initially puzzled by this sight, but their confusion would quickly give way to sudden dread as the man stirred awake and rose slowly from the sarcophagus that enshrined him for so long. Frightened, the members of the team armed with tools attempted to strike him when he approached them, resulting in quick but harmless reprisal by the man as he subdued them. Speaking to them in an unknown tongue as he attempted to flee, the warrior soon fell to his knees in exhaustion before falling into a deep slumber once again, mere inches away from the tomb's entrance. Panicked by what they had just experienced, the majority of the team opted to leave the tomb and the man where he laid but were denied by Professor Delacroix as she reminded them that their supplies had run low through the course of their adventure, telling them their best chance of surviving and escaping the wilderness was to wait for the Society to arrive in order to uncover more within the sanctuary. Until then, the group sheltered themselves around the tomb and kept themselves fed with wild game, with the young professor taking the supposedly heavenly warrior into her care, curious to learn more about the youth... As Delacroix suspected, the young man would come to not long after their attempts to make camp for the time being. However, despite the man revealing that he could speak her tongue, she was unable to glean anything else from as he both lost his name and his memory, although she theorized that he was a figure referred to in local myth as "the Blazer". In spite of her beliefs, Delacroix gave the warrior the name "Jack"; a name that she had a certain fondness of. As time passed, the two became close as Sophia continued to help Jack acclimate to the new world he found himself in. The haze of memories past began to clear for the warrior as he soon regaled tales of high adventure, demonic creatures, and great battles fought in both the sky and on solid earth to the Sanctuary's explorers. With what Jack spoke of, as well as what was slowly being uncovered in the subterranean ruins, it was believed by both the explorers and the Society's leadership that he was a servant of Dyeus, an ancient sky god also known as the Lord of Light. This seemed to contrast with what Sophia had ascertained by the evidence she had found within Jack's tomb, including a sword that bore her subject's apparent true name and pictographs of a man emerging from beneath a gigantic tree. Regardless, the Society continued its research of the ancient ruin, hoping to discover more about the stranger and his true purpose. In the years since, the young man became a leading agent of the Society's SWORD division, an elite task force dedicated to investigating and exterminating the most dangerous supernatural threats. His unique and somewhat encyclopedic knowledge of the domain of eldritch magic had revitalized morale among the overwrought agents, who took to having Jack take point in most, if not all, inquiries into the realms unknown. Though he felt a certain satisfaction in eliminating monsters and putting an end to esoterroristic threats, there was something lacking in the direction of his life. A yearning for something more... In an effort to give the Society what it desired without sacrificing Jack's personal autonomy, Sophia encouraged the youth to travel abroad and expand his horizons as he took on his missions, hoping that it would unlock more of his memories in the process. Emboldened by the chance to rediscover himself and intrigued by the world at large, Jack set off alone, carrying what little possessions he had with him. In this rather unusual journey, what will this lone soul discover...?
