I'm experimenting with #OpenClaw on a dedicated mini PC running Linux that sits under my monitor. My own sandbox. Other folks are getting Mac Minis. You might have heard about OpenClaw: it's being described as "AI with hands". The tool gives LLMs access to the system and its applications. It asks for permission before doing anything. Security is a key concern. The box can only access the Internet, with no incoming connections allowed. There is no personal data on it except the one I'll provide. I got a separate cell phone number for it. It's a window into what's coming — what I described in my 2030 prediction post: an autonomous agent with long term memory and agency. It feels so much different than interacting with an LLM in the browser. Its SOUL file, which contains the description of its personality, started with the name, Algie. It's my way of paying homage to Flowers for Algernon, my favorite science fiction story.
