Cienn leaned against the polished countertop and pressed her elbows against the cool marble, flour dusting her face and hair and her lips set in a thin line. The recipe book splayed open on the counter had a thin coat of flour on it. "This is the last time that I try baking at three am because I can't sleep and I have a funky idea I want to try out," she muttered angrily, then leaned back, releasing an exhausted groan and turning her attention back to the oven behind her. "Next time I'm just buying a cake. Fucking cakes." Shadows filled the air, then wrapped around her, prying off the flour except in her blue hair. Her attention shifted to the four other failed experiments from the last week, assorted crimes that laid on the far side of the bar, and her mood sunk even further.
