val needs to move on from her past, from her belief that everyone WILL leave her and that it's better to fuck everything up yourself before it happens, so it hurts less. Jackie helps with that initially, showing up for her, not giving up on her no matter how much she tries to fuck everything up and push him away but then... he dies. And with Johnny, no matter how she (and initially, both of them!) try to get away, run from this, fuck each other up, they can't. They're stuck together, and they have to work through it, and it's not perfect, it hurts, but it helps, and it's worth it. antinea needs to move on from her fears, mostly. staying inside will not help. avoiding life, living a pretend life on the 'net will not fill the hole inside her heart. it's okay to be scared, it's okay to rely on others to go through difficult stuff, but avoiding everything won't magically fix everything. it will never be fixed, it will never go back to what it was, and she will always live with those fears, but she doesn't have to let them control her.
