I was little down the last couple days. Part of it, was struggling with caffeine deficiency, but mostly PT testing being kinda boring witout Lorwyn on Arena. Tuesday can't get here soon enough. Anyway, I tried the Izzet Looting in my morning stream. Deck seems bad. I constantly compare it to Lessons, and Lessons seem like a superior deck. The cards in the Looting deck rely on each other heavily. Seal is unplayable without card draw. Talent is unplayable without Boomerang. Nathan is unplayable without interaction. You're an aggro deck that's ass at playing defence, but also not aggressive enough to run over people. I didn't get to try the Portal version, because I got distracted and wanted to cube. It didn't have great numbers in Spotlights (and the good winrate against Lessons, I truly don't understand). Anyway, low on the deck - don't see it being contender compared to Lessons. As always, could be missing something (I am starting to come around on Landfall). My second stream was more interesting. Like I said, I was feeling mopey and realized I didn't actually try to brew anything. I was trying to get familiar with brand new format in a small time frame for Lyon so it made sense. But now, I have couple of days to spare - the format changed a lot from Worlds to Spotlight so I figured there might be a way to improve existing decks. Couple days ago, a twitch chatter said something alongside the lines: "Can't wait for someone to cut bad cards from landfall and play Hoof package instead." Why not? Check the list here: https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/7579840#paper Provide a caption (optional) The deck felt decent. I went 6-0 on ladder, and then played 3 matches vs viewer on UG Cub (1-2 in matches, 3-4 in games). Still raw version, but it showed promise. Some quick thoughts. - unclear what the tutor package should be, maybe add Ouro, Surrak or Rec Sage? - Dauntless Scrapbot seems better than Sentinel of Lost Lore - biggest issue will be curving out with Passage/Tunnel. You have 17 untapped lands compared to 22 in the Cub deck. Not sure if trimming a fetchland makes sense. - lowered the number of Ba Sing Se to make curving out easier, could make us worse in bunch of other matchups - Harmonizer has great synergy with Rhythm. Warp + land + tap 4 and Harmonizer find Hoof happened multiple times - Nature's Rhytm feels better than Esper Origins with Icetill - deck is quite hard to play - felt only slightly behind against UG Cub, which is improvement compared to usual Landfall - hard to say if you downgrade elsewhere - prolly way better in the Landfall mirror and probably worse vs Lessons Will play this deck more in the morning. Evening stream will be Lessons vs UG Cub against @ChrisKral4 (top 4 competitor from Spotlight Atlanta). And the day after tomorrow, Arena will have Lorwyn! And I shall rejoice.
