DARK ANIMAL POWERS Daily Astrology Tues 20th Oct Moon in Aquarius opposite Jupiter in Leo. There has been a lot happening in Scorpio recently - and still is - so today's aspect gives a bit of light relief. Our heads are briefly above the water, and above us lies the deep blue firmament, peopled by the gods of astrology. Our individual life is meaningful. That is the easy-flowing message of Jupiter in Leo. It is being activated by the Moon in Aquarius, so here is the challenge. Aquarius is the most human of the signs, but being airy, it can be dissociated from the instinctual, the animal, can even feel itself above it. At the same time it is willing to break the rules. As humans, we are ambivalent about the animal that we are. Exercise and dance and yoga make us feel alive, connected and joyous. That is the happy animal. And yet we fear the animal, in the sense that we feel it as potentially out of control and uncivilised, a dark force from the primeval forest, invoked in satanic rituals. But Aquarius is willing to be 'uncivilised', it realises that those fears are a block to our natural vitality. And once it has stopped being purely rebellious, it accepts that regular humanity does not want to live with that kind of spontaneity and uncertainty. For there is a kind of superpower when the human becomes the animal. There are animals in spirit only too happy to move through us when we dance. They are a source of guidance: unlike humans, animals know how to live, they are deliberate in what they do. So today tune into that animal within and its quiet power. Then you will know who you are and what to do. You do not need to look outside yourself to self-help books and teachers. It is all there in the intuitive guidance of the animal. The opposite sign to Aquarius is Leo. This sign is not in any conflict with its animal. No, it is the Lion, deeply at ease with who it is, the king of the jungle. To top it all off, the Moon and Jupiter are in square to Mercury in Scorpio. You may give verbal utterance to the animal, it is a bit like speaking in tongues, it is spontaneous and it has a power, even a healing power, to it. A bit like what happens in Pentecostal churches. This animal vitality, and the spirit powers that come with it, are the subject of my fantasy book The Shapeshifters Trilogy, available for pre-order on Amazon.
