Now, the Supreme Court is set to hear oral arguments in three cases challenging Trump’s dangerous and undemocratic executive order: It’s more important than ever that we make our voices heard and hold this MAGA-corrupted Supreme Court accountable to the people. Trump’s move to strip the promise of birthright citizenship from Americans is even alarming conservatives. The right-leaning CATO Institute had this to say: “With the law, tradition, common sense, reason, and empirical evidence on the side of maintaining birthright citizenship, we can only hope the courts maintain our exceptional system in its current form.” It’s unbelievable that a right so entrenched in the promise of America would come before the Supreme Court. But this type of case is exactly why well-funded, right-wing forces spent decades packing the Supreme Court. They want Trump to dismantle democracy as we know it so they can reshape our country to their liking, and they want the MAGA justices they placed on the Supreme Court to help. This isn’t a partisan issue, it affects every baby born on American soil, regardless of who their parents are or which political party they support. The right to citizenship by birth is a cornerstone of our national identity, enshrined in the 14th Amendment. Undermining it threatens the fundamental equality and stability that generations of Americans have counted on. If this right can be stripped away from some, it can be stripped away from all.
