“ Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is facing widespread backlash for falsely claiming that Arabs “don’t produce science” and don’t win major international prizes. “There’s 500 million Arabs in the world, and yet they don’t produce science, they don’t win the Nobel Prize, they don’t win the Fields prize, they don’t win the Wolf Prize, they don’t produce literature,” Kennedy said Monday at a Michigan campaign event for Republican Senate nominee Mike Rogers. Arabs have won every one of those prizes, and a Baylor professor noted that his late colleague Ahmed Zewail, an Arab Nobel laureate, “would disagree.” The Council on American-Islamic Relations called the remarks “a textbook display of unvarnished racism and bigotry.” The comments come as Rogers’s opponent, Democrat Abdul El-Sayed, who would be the first Muslim U.S. senator, faces a wave of anti-Muslim attacks, including Trump repeatedly and falsely calling him a “jihadist.” El-Sayed’s campaign said it’s “rich to have an anti-scientist come to Michigan to lecture a doctor with two doctoral degrees.” via Aaron Parnas newsletter
