The Dems mistake: Back in the day after Reagan decimated the political scene the Dems were desperate for a new way. The NeoCon's demonization of liberalism made it scary to run on ideals. So Clinton ran on triangulation. Base on Dem values but skewed to the right to lure GOP voters over. This worked in the short term. But it cost us a lot. Part of the shift meant focusing on white collar workers (yuppies) intead of unions or minorities. The thinking being that they know the Dems have their back. But we need to bring in other voters to win. So these groups went along in hopes that once things worked out their issues would be dealt with again. The trouble was triangulation worked. So more Establishment Dems turned to its poll chasing rather than standing for the ideals of a progressing society. They held on to some of the social issues. But focused on being more economically conservative. Favoring corporations. This did lure indies and GOP over. But it also caused more conservative leaning to actually take hold within the party. When you act like you are conservative to get votes over time the party becomes more conservative. So now we have a party that mostly plays the triangulation game. Using polls to figure out where to stand to get the most votes. They are a part of followers rather than leaders. Mostly. Newer members such as AOC and Crockett show signs of having ideals they refuse to back down from. But the establishment continues to try to control such behavior. Everything is about following the polls to win. Rather than leading to people to help them understand. And this is the key problem. Leaders are supposed to educate the people as to why a particular path is the right one to take. If all they are doing is chasing the polls they cannot stand for anything solidly. Their position is build on stacks of polls. And will slide and change as the polling does. Understanding the polls is vital. But understanding ideals is more important. Whent he polls do not agree with the ideals that is the time to educate and be a leader to convince and shift the population. This is a problem that are disconnect from labor caused. Because the Dems expected Labor to always side with Dems they largely ignored them. And the GOP found ways to invade. In particular as the Dems had tied themselves to social issues that the highly educated White Collar work force held to such as LGBTQ+ and abortion issues, the GOP went after Labor with religious ideals targeting these differences between much of the Labor base and the Democratic position. Allowing those that absolutely represented the Corporations interests to capture much of the Labor representation. If the Dems had held to the roll of leadership they could have educated the workers better to bring them deeper into the tent. Vote for Dems that stand on ideals first. We have lost so much because we stepped away from this. Its going to take effort to bring us back.
