2Smiley@bsky.social Trump and Musk passed over more than 100 better-qualified civil servants at the Social Security Administration and appointed Leland Dudek in her place because he was willing to give Musk’s DOGE complete, unfettered access to Americans’ most personal, sensitive data. Now, a judge has ordered a stop to Elon Musk’s DOGE from continuing to access our data, but Dudek is threatening to shut the whole system down in retaliation. Singlehandedly, he is taking the security out of Social Security. Dudek’s reaction to this court order shows exactly why Trump and Musk picked him. When he’s asked to choose between ensuring the benefits earned by over 70 million Americans are paid in full and on time, as they have been for nearly a century, or his loyalty to his billionaire bosses, he is picking the billionaires. Dudek’s leadership has been the darkest in Social Security’s nearly 90-year history. He has sown chaos and destruction. Now, he is threatening to shut down Social Security completely. Members of Congress who remain silent are complicit. Next week, the Senate will hold its confirmation hearing on Frank Bisignano, Trump’s pick to serve as long-term Social Security commissioner. Bisignano is no better than Dudek. He has already declared loyalty to Elon Musk’s DOGE. Contact every member of the Senate, Republican or Democrat alike, and demand a Social Security commissioner who is loyal to our Social Security system, not billionaires like Elon Musk and Donald Trump. They were elected to make it clear that no president—even one who thinks he is a king—can shut down our Social Security system.
