Most people think socializing means learning how to imitate everyone else. You listen to what other people talk about. You memorize the kinds of jokes they make. You hear something funny and try to repeat it later. You study what “normal people” say so you can copy it and fit in. You learn the rhythm, the vocabulary, the opinions, and the approved personality. Then you call that socializing. But that isn’t genuine connection. That is social imitation. You’re not expressing yourself. You’re constantly searching your memory for something another person said that worked. “What would a normal person say here?” “What joke am I supposed to make?” “What topic will make me fit in?” That creates mental latency. Instead of being present, you’re filtering yourself through everyone you’ve ever watched. Real socializing begins when you stop trying to reproduce other people and start revealing yourself. Say what you genuinely think. Express what you find funny. Follow the strange, creative thought that appears in the moment. Share the observation nobody else noticed. Ask the question you’re actually curious about. Stop searching for the socially correct response and allow your real response to come through. I don’t want to sound like everyone else. I don’t want to recycle somebody else’s personality. I want to create in real time. I want my conversations to come directly from my instincts, humor, curiosity, experiences, and imagination. That doesn’t mean ignoring people. You still listen. You still notice how they feel. You still care whether you’re connecting. But you stop needing their approval before allowing yourself to exist. That is the difference. Social imitation asks: “What can I say that will make me acceptable?” Real self-expression asks: “What is alive inside me right now?” Don’t try to become more like other people. Become relaxed enough to reveal more of yourself. Your real humor. Your real opinions. Your real curiosity. Your real energy. Your real creativity. The goal of socializing isn’t to prove that you’re normal. It’s to become so free that another human being finally gets to meet you.
