One of the coolest things about documenting my entire life is realizing that my future children will always be able to know me. If something ever happens to me, they won’t only have a few photographs and secondhand stories. They’ll have my voice. My expressions. My humor. My writing. My videos. My philosophy. They’ll be able to watch how I thought, what I believed, what I struggled with, and how my ideas evolved throughout my life. They can study who their father actually was. In a sense, I could still help raise them even after I’m gone. I could leave them lessons about relationships, confidence, purpose, money, character, happiness, failure, and everything else life eventually forces us to confront. When they feel lost, they could hear what I would have told them. When they make mistakes, they could study the mistakes I made first. When they wonder where they came from, they wouldn’t have to construct an imaginary version of me. They could see me speaking directly to them through everything I created. Of course, content could never replace the presence of a living father. But it could preserve something previous generations could never leave behind at this scale: a living record of someone’s mind, personality, values, and love. That makes every video and every piece of writing more meaningful. I’m not only creating content for the people watching today. I’m documenting my consciousness for the people I love in the future. My children will never have to wonder who their father was. I’m leaving them the answer.
