Daily Thoughts #6 Spent the whole day playing Lessons. This is the current list (subject to change) - https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/7559005#paper So the main topic for the day was to figure out whether I want to play Stormchaser Talent in my deck or not. I have concluded that the Otterless version is better vs Landfall, UG Cub, and the mirror, while being worse against Jeskai and UB. I expect the first three decks to the most played decks in Lyon, and teammates reported that especially in the mirror it feels like a great improvement. And that's the most important matchup. Having 3-4 extra counterspell compared to the stock lists feels better than having Otter + Boomerang combo. Against Green decks the Otters are small potatoes, so having few extra removals is great + Quench feels good against these decks that ramp. Quick hits. ⚡️ - Confident 23 lands is right, especially with 2 Agna, which I absolutely love - unclear on the exact maindeck configuration, could see 4th Attachments, maindeck Ral, Fire Magic instead of Burst Lightning - Is Lantern or Vacuum better? Let me know in the comments, I just like Vacuum as a t1 play in the mirror, leaning towards 1/1 split, simply because I don't know - Thunder Magic is my extra 1 mana removal spell slot, could be Torch (is there anything to exile?) or Fire Magic or another Burst 🔥 - Get Out over 3rd Flashfreeze - I wanna have an answer to Unagi / Riddler, Get Out feels better than Scatter, because it has better applications against Jeskai (Rest in Peace). Can be hard on the mana, so not totally sure - need to play bit more vs UG to figure out if Pyroclasm is good - 2nd Negate could be 3rd Pierce, but hardcounter kinda nice - Kaito is a big problem, hence why I'm playing Barrage, could see one more answer as well - no Quantum Riddler right now, is that card actually good in any matchup? 🤷Let me know in the comments - I have liked Washington as a random one-off flash threat in postboard games, was solid against Landfall, but it won me a game vs Jeskai as well today - Price of Freedom could be a one-off to deal with Ba Sing and Mistrise Village, both kinda annoying. Probably not good enough though I won't stream tomorrow morning as I am unfortunately attending a funeral. Will try to be on in the evening, and planning to do sideboard mapping live on stream.
