Dear Senator Durbin, I wrote to you earlier about my concern about Section 70302 in the Reconciliation Act. This past hour and a half I have been studying and learning about the Byrd Rule. If I understand it correctly, you or any other Senator(probably Democratic) has the right to call a point of order on the bill and refer it to the Parliamentarian to decide if Section 70302 is extraneous to the proposed bill. It has absolutely nothing to do with the budget and should be removed. The primary purpose of the Byrd Rule is to ensure that reconciliation bills remain focused on budgetary matters (spending, revenue, and the federal debt limit) and are not used as a vehicle to pass unrelated policy changes with a simple majority. We both know the reason they are trying to sneak it into the budget bill. It will give Trump and any future President the legal right to disobey any Federal or Supreme Court decisions. In essence, it will eliminate justice in the United States, and a King will replace a President. We cannot allow that to happen. YOU cannot let that happen. I implore you to speak the "point of order" when the time comes and reject Section 70302. Respectfully, David Piekarczyk
