Daily thoughts #11 Spent the whole day drafting in the Early Access. I thought a bit about it today, and I'm not sure if I want to share much content about limited moving forward. I've always considered myself as an average drafter, and felt drafting was 'necessary evil' in my goal of doing well at tournaments. Don't get me wrong, I like drafts - I just suck at them, and clearly my best results have all come from constructed. While my PT draft winrate was passable, it was mostly on the back of teammates teaching me how to draft the format. Therefore I don't feel confident teaching others. Moving forward, I'll focus the stream and daily thoughts on Standard. Standard has always been my favorite format, one where I found a lot of success in, and one where I feel like I can deliver the best insights. My eventual goal is to become the #1 MTG content creator for Standard. With that said, since I spent the whole day drafting, here's couple thoughts on Lorwyn Eclipsed. They're quite likely wrong. 😉 - black seems like the best color - white / blue seem like the worst color - most of my decks have had overcrowded 3cmc slot - format speed is medium - most of the commands are worse than they look - Vivid is fun, good decks might center around the 0/4 ramp treefolk - Merfolk seem bad, unless you open / get passed a high amount of rares - format seems less fun than Avatar There's 4 days before Lorwyn is out on Arena. I feel little spent so before it's out, I will take it easy, and then go hard for a week before the PT. Plan for tomorrow: Morning - fully focused climb with Lessons / Cub - no talking while playing -> going in-depth on the replay (imo the best way to improve at Magic, ideally done with a friend who's better) Evening - testing Lessons vs Landfall against Spotlight Atlanta top 8 competitor Eli Swafford (real excited about that)
