RE: https://bsky.app/profile/irhottakes.bsky.social/post/3lvlb4hiewk2c "Not even joking when I say the educated urban bourgeoise need to develop class consciousness." They already have something like class consciousness: they know their main function is to, however roundaboutly, increase the immiseration and slaughtering of "the dumb unwashed masses", through "social work", medical professions, IT, pretty much all white-collar work, and more. That's what the UK's Labour Party has been for, as it's what ALL major political movements are for without anything like a radical alternative, like what a few commies wanted. It's not cowardice at all. The point of much of "the left" IS TO FAIL. Why would elites want to let any movement that really would destroy the basis of their power have any standing in popular politics? Labour, like the Dems, are built to make any such politics look stupid and disgusting. The poisoning goes back a long way: Eugenics was a big deal across the British and American intelligentsias, and to a lesser extent the other European ones, influencing everyone from Churchill to (importantly for Labour) the Fabians. As if even a stated eugenicist aim of "reducing their numbers kindly" would've given the truly damned what they wanted, compared with rapidly developing technologies to improve their lot in the first place and doing away with elite impositions which frustrated them, like the very deliberate World Wars. (All wars are at least partially intended for testing and filtering masses of young men.) "So much horrid shit throughout the developed world comes from them internalizing that they are illegitimate in a way the “noble” and “authentic” peasants and proles are not." No, they think they're on the side of the great idols of the time, particularly those seemingly-superhuman experts. Most of them aren't even deluding themselves into thinking they're very safe from being backstabbed: most of us, including them, hate the way the world is and will at least blame people more elite than us for making it worse, and also know there's a long and widespread history of leaders doing things that disillusion their supporters. Instead, they wanna be less screwed than "disgusting" people they hate more, usually lower-class folks. You can tell they think this way because whenever they have to think about someone who, independent of any stereotype of who's oppressed they promote, is ACTUALLY screwed... they either basically crow "you're not REALLY disadvantaged" or sideline those issues, which are often ones THEIR class enabled if not played a direct role on imposing on the damned! This is why heaps of both "really grubby" working people and people who aren't even allowed to work (e.g. because they have disabilities which they usually lament and which we've long had means of reliably working around) will never gain anything from them. This vile trend's a "centre-left" favorite, and one of the reasons why they can't get enough of propaganda cheering on "productive" classes who'd "ideally be rewarded fairly for their important work" (which is largely bullshit organized mainly to STIFLE innovation). In this way, they're not far off the usual "I'm a capitalist, not a crony capitalist" types. And it's never long before they begin saying "aw nuts we gotta do an austerity". Guess who gets hurt most by that!
