Climate Change Commentary: While, I worked in the sciences, I am certainly not an expert on climate change. I listen and read as much as I can in order to stay informed about the climate crisis. Perhaps, the tech oligarchs should consider doing the same. Our climate scientists are urgently sounding the alarm and a lot of people seem to be consciously defunct. The glacial detachment that occurred in Nepal, due to rising temperatures, should be more than enough to wake people up and be a dire warning. In years past, I travelled to and spent time in Nepal, and the footage was heart wrenching to watch. Many of the Nepalese live in impoverished conditions, yet are kind and generous. They do not deserve to be a climate change byproduct of the high emitters on this planet. Sadly, it seems that there are people who are more concerned about purchasing their 77 ½” TVs. I believe the saturation point has been reached and the fossil fuels need to go. However, I feel it’s more than all of this. The knowledge of the Indigenous cultures/ancient civilizations needs to be incorporated with modern technology, for a sustainable future. It isn’t that the use of fossil fuels is halted and its business as usual of mass consumption from renewables. Our relationship to the Earth needs to change, otherwise I don’t think there will be a “choice” but to “fail.”
