I've been thinking about this, and this topic has never left my head. And that's about hub worlds. I miss when video games would have hubworlds where you could just walk around exploring the hubworlds. Look at Mario 64, Sunshine and Sonic Adventure 1. They had hubworlds where you could just walk from level to level. Same with Banjo Kazooie/Tooie. I remember you could go to a level just by walking to it. And what's cool about it is that once you go into the level, you'd collect the main obective such as a star in Mario 64, and once you collect enough stars, it would unlock the next level in the game, which would allow you to progress . This also applies to Banjo Kazooie. In that hubworld, all the levels you'd access were all over the hubworld. Let's say you had to collect the right amount of music notes to get to the next level as you progress in Gruntilda's lair. If you collect the right amount of notes, you'd be able to progress to the next level. But as for open world games, you don't get that. You instead have to go to any objective by your choice, and also... the open world areas are SO large, it overwhelms you. You also can go to any point in the open world area, instead of walking to a level in a hubworld. In BOTW, there are no levels, you just explore the massive map of Hyrule. Now don't get me wrong. I love BOTW... but I do miss the linear style the old zelda games have where you could visit the next area in a short amount of time, but in BOTW, you'd go to the next area in a longer amount of time, but at least the fast travelling mechanic saves that. And there's also the fact that save points don't exist in BOTW.. you'd just be able to save whenever you want by going to the "save game" option. But in Strangers of Paradise, there were save points as you progress through the game.
