Hey friends! Welcome to the first round of Outlet! As of right now, Outlet is in its prototyping stage, so we won’t be having weekly posts as of now, but stay tuned! There will be an announcement when Outlet is live. Because it’s in the prototyping stage,I would really appreciate your thoughts, either in a DM or at outlet.neocities@gmail.com This week, I spent some time making art with people at Protofest and it was great seeing so many people! (Above is some of the art that was handed to me at the fest, as well as my attempt at crochet lol). When it came time to tell people about Outlet, I ended up alluding to the state of the world, rather than saying it outright. I knew people would get what I meant, but I was kind of surprised that not a single person asked me what I meant! I’m not sure if that says more about the state of the world, or the sorts of people who show up to Protofest, but it’s probably in the middle. Even though there’s been a ton of bad news already this week, I’ve been focusing on learning a new craft- crochet! Even though I’m really bad at it, I enjoy the feeling of the yarn and the repetitive actions associated with it. It feels meditative. I try to think about and process the news while I’m crocheting and then I take a few minutes after to run my hands over the stitches and think of more positive, reassuring things to make sure I’m leaving my craft feeling a bit better. This time, I was thinking about how I wish I could make the world brighter. I can’t change anything going on right now, but I think I’m going to try to see if people would want a fashion show at school this coming week (Outlet irl event coming soon?) What do y’all think was the moment we all knew that things just suck now? Has it been this way for years, or is this a recent development? We might not be able to do much about what’s going on directly, but what’s something you can do to make your life and the lives of others a little bit brighter? So, create something!
