Watching a vod of Sebmal (great streamer, genuinely!) playing Sonic Heroes... I think Heroes is one of those games doomed to be shit upon because, like most of Sonic's "passable" 3D games (a small list), it's legitimately fun when you know how to play it at a decent level and are able to avoid (most of) the jank, but the game's onboarding is so abysmal (both due to the bugginess and with how poorly the game explains itself) that no one outside of people that grew up playing it as children are gonna have the patience to really get into it and appreciate it despite its shortcomings. It's always a bit disheartening to see those games get torn to shreds by people that, sorry to say, don't really "get" them. It's not really the player's fault or anything. Again, it's just unfortunate, because I love a lot about games like Sonic Heroes but no sane adult who didn't put in the dozens of hours as a kid to get good at it is going to see the appeal. (Other 3D Sonic games in this field are Adventure 1, Adventure 2, and Unleashed HD. Colors and Generations HD are easy and polished enough that most people can enjoy those without needing a ton of patience.)
