Library Computer Troubles: Alyssa to the Rescue! December 21, 2024 I had gotten a phone call from the local library complaining about slow computers. The librarian said that there have been a lot of problems happening lately. There are a lot of pop up ads, fake anti virus notifications, and unusual toolbars. Plus search results were being redirected. So I visited the local library. The librarian who I knew for years asked me a question about the computers. She said that she has been noticing some of them being slow and having large amounts of pop ups and toolbars on them. The visitors and the employees working at the library were also noticing the same problem. They have been having pop ups happening every time and they wondered what was causing it. I told them that someone probably clicked on an ad by mistake or visited some bad websites. They believed my answer. I offered them my tech support services. I offered to check their computers for viruses for 30 dollars and install some security software into their machines to keep them safe from viruses from other malware. They agreed to it. So I began my work on the computers. I ran some virus scans and anti malware scans. I used a combination of anti malware software to make sure I caught all the viruses. It turned out that these computers had a lot of viruses on them slowing them down and causing them to crash a lot. The virus scans took a few hours to complete. I managed to remove the viruses, which was a good thing. The computers were running a lot faster now. A few computers required their OS to be reinstalled, so I reformatted their drives and reinstalled the operating system. That fixed the problem in those where viruses were not being detected or kept coming back. I told the librarian the computers are now fixed, and that they can reinstall the necessary library software on them. She thanked me for my help. I decided to call them back a few days later, and they said that the computers were running well. Which was a good thing. Iām glad to have helped them. I hope their computers stay secure and that they continue to run fast so that people can get work done there. After all, libraries are important.
