One of those summer days that reminds me how little it takes to have a good day. Sunshine, a light breeze, and temperatures in the mid-70s. Started the morning with a walk with Hazel, then got some laundry going before heading out. Made a run to BJ’s in Clay for Vitamin Water and a few odds and ends. On the way home, I decided to stop at Hefner’s Nursery and picked up a few patio plants. Grabbed lunch from The Pickle and had the Pickle Special. Some traditions are worth keeping. I also voted in the local primary before settling in back at home. Now I’m sitting on the back porch with Mark under the umbrella while Hazel relaxes in her shade ditch. I’ve spent a good part of the afternoon just watching the wind catcher spin. There’s something calming about it. The leaves are rustling in the trees, the breeze is moving through the yard, and every so often the soft notes of a neighbor’s wind chime drift by. Nothing urgent remains today. No schedule to chase. No problems that need solving right now. Just sitting in the moment and enjoying the simple things. When the sun finally drops below the neighbor’s roofline, I may pour a beverage, light the fire pit, and let the evening arrive on its own time.
