FALLING OUT OF LOVE Daily Astrology Tues 27th Oct Venus retrograde entered Libra 2 days ago, but I let news of her Ingress be crowded out by Mercury retrograde and the Full Moon. So she has the sky to herself today. With her retrograde, we are looking to the past, to gain self-knowledge. Libra is idealistic in Love. It is, of course, projection of our own potential onto the significant Other. They become the most wonderful person. (And if you're lucky, you get to have sex with them, you merge, that is Venus in Scorpio.) But that is normal. It seems to make the world go round. For the next few weeks you have a chance to look back and reflect on those initiations into your own soul. For that is what falling in love is, properly understood. It has nothing to do with the other person. It is a powerful thing that really can sweep you off your feet, that can take your life over, especially perhaps the first one. Nowadays it is held to be the main basis for marriage, which is silly. I think there is a lot to be said for arranged marriages. So look back and see what it led to as, perhaps, you lurched from one love to the next. The heat and compulsion ease off as we age, and we have a chance to see and to integrate the old projection. It is a great opportunity. It is the divine in your own soul, it is the great warrior Mars or the exquisite Venus. You can never possess them. They are compelling, numinous presences that lead us on to the holy sanctuary, the hidden chapel in the forest. It will take you the rest of your life. It is a wonderful thing. But first of all, make yourself see that it was never truly about the other person. Then you are free. This is the balance that Libra seeks. It is not a horizontal thing, like balancing pepper and salt. It is a balance to be found around a new centre to your being, a centre that is no longer the everyday you, but the divine Mars or Venus.
