Character introduction: Malachi Delacour. Brief Summary: Born to a highly aristocratic family of the time on December 31,1700, Malachi is highly educated, sarcastic, witty and charming. He was on the brink of death at the age of twenty when the Black Death struck the city of London, where he and his family were living at the time; unfortunately his younger sister and older brother perished from it, just as his father did. If it wasn't for a peculiarly skilled in house nurse who "saved him" when she had seen him suffering tremendously from the Plague; although his sister and father were beyond saving as they passed away days prior to when he ‘died’. Malachi looks at the day he was turned into a vampire as a brand new life, completely shedding the one he once lived when he was actually alive and using this as a new beginning for him. Being turned was an experience in its own right, beautiful but excruciating for the first several days as it took him sometime to fully die before he was reborn so to speak and the year and a half or so was painstakingly difficult due to the insatiable thirst that follows and having to keep it under control; Self control was very easy as a human, a bit more difficult when your a fucking supernatural being who is thirsty for blood all the time. Especially being a ‘newborn’ learning to navigate the new life and lifestyle. Learning self control took time, which he eventually mastered in full, but every so often he does allow himself to give in to that nagging ache for blood whenever it strikes. He does not consider the process of killing (by draining someone completely of their blood) by feeding on humans/mortals (the latter is what he sometimes refers to humankind as) as immoral. Instead it's simply a way of life for him and those of his kind and completely necessary for survival. The most he can go without feeding is up to two weeks tops, unless he has to use any of his abilities or if he plans on having sex, which he will need to go feed much much much sooner. He doesn't need sustenance like human food or drink to survive on, but does partake. Malachi only turns people if he absolutely feels it necessary, which is very rare that he does. The last person he had turned was his mate/wife, Valeria when she had tracked and hunted him down, that was the last time he ever did such. Being over three hundred years old, it makes him an elder vampire; and one was living through the ever evolving world of tragedies and decadence. Malachi is not a cruel person, contrary to the facade of this cold or stiff persona he puts on. He’s pretty cultured in all manners of art, music and literature; living through many centuries and decades has always tended to give him a bit of a culture shock, but he manages and adapts rather quickly. Malachi is a freelance artist in the modern time, which gives him collective freedom to do as he pleases as he is often paid off commission or if some local papers or websites and such needed him to draw something up for them. He does this while also working for Adrian (Lucifer), as do a good majority of the good supernatural beings that he is closest to. He has no need to worry about money from his regular job as Adrian’s work covers him immensely as it pays handsomely. Unlike most of his kind, he can go outside during the daytime just as smoothly as he moves about at night. A very common thing with those like him is that he absolutely cannot see himself in mirrors, puddles of water or anything of the like that is supposed to give reflection. He also cannot go into someone's house without being formally invited in. Malachi also speaks French quite fluently for someone born in England and can adapt to other countries or languages with utter ease. Malachi was also in a two year relationship with another elevated elder vampire named Elizabeth March, which he's known for two centuries if not a little longer. After much flirting back and forth between the two and after their several run ins with each other, they finally decided to date. Contrary to anything Elizabeth was the one who ended the relationship and decided they would be better off as friends, which ultimately he became okay with. An excuse that had set him on his current path to Valeria. For a very long time he thought that he was in love with Liz but it was not the case after ruminating on her and their relationship. There has never been any hard feelings between the two either as she has been nothing but an amazing friend to him and has helped him with plenty of situations. They do talk regularly and he holds her in high regards and has nothing but platonic love for her. Abilities and such: To start off Malachi is immortal, however he is not immune to physical injuries, which can still happen, however he can heal from them. A lot of these abilities he managed to get from his maker, Amélie, some he developed over time as he grew in vampire age. His senses are very sharp, especially with smell and hearing, he can hear a pin drop in a loud room that is how refined that is. He can also sense if someone's blood is polluted with drugs, prescription or recreational or otherwise or if someone's blood alcohol level is really high. Those types he will not feed off of whatsoever for the mere fact he will feel incredulously sick afterwards. He can easily detect heartbeats and track them, a great skill for hunting! Despite his leg injury (it was something that never healed when he was younger and very much human and still transferred over to his newer self, so to speak, however it's less prominent than when he was human) he is swift and quick with his movements and is fairly quiet when he stalks and hunts for his prey. Malachi’s vision is 20/20 and far superior to a mortal's eyesight in that regard. One of his other abilities that he only uses if he is in absolute danger is the ability to make people hallucinate or create an alternative reality (nightmare) for them simply by feeding off their fears, although it's not a lasting effect if he lets the person or persons he’s inflicted live. Malachi can create doubles of himself to create an escape for himself. Another thing he recently found out he can do is make things go dark by covering enemies and the like in an ebony thick cloud or mist; enveloping enemies in the dark for as long as he needs, allowing him to quickly escape or making it into a dangerous weapon. Other: Malachi's home is quite exquisite, a multi storey mansion which he has mirroring his family home back in France. Unfortunately he did not acquire it through working hard, instead he killed the homeowner and his wife after befriending them, some years ago. He also has a forged birth certificate and appropriate licenses (which was difficult for reasons) which age him up to twenty five for US based living and things there. He owns two Ravens, Loki and Shadow or as he calls the latter by an old French word, "ombrage". [As I think of more things to add, I'll edit this doc as necessary. ]
