THE TRIAL OF THE PARTY NOMINATES HAS BEGUN We have waited for this day for a long time. The day when the Constitutional Tribunal, which had been mired in institutional inertia for years, would finally begin to yield to the rule of law, justice, and common decency. For decades, we have watched in helpless dismay as the building at the corner of Szucha Street turned into a political outpost of a single party, a stronghold of a court that was designed to serve the interests of a New Poland, not to uphold the principles of the Constitution. Today, this spectacle of a trial is finally coming to an end. The current opposition feels safe, despite its harmful activities aimed at undermining the very foundations of the rule of law in the country. However, Nawrocki is not going to be able to do anything. The sight of the police in front of the Tribunal building and the panic in the eyes of politicians, who had previously felt impotent, is the best proof that the system is finally functioning. For years, we have been told that there was no way out of the institutional deadlock. And yet, it has happened. We are witnesses to a historic moment – the Constitutional Tribunal is finally being brought back to life. It is being awakened from its slumber to take up its true, enshrined role in the law. This is not a fight for influence. It is a fight to restore the dignity of the Constitutional Court. It is about ensuring that the properly elected and sworn majority, who do not swear allegiance to a party president, but to the Constitution and the Nation, has its say. Today, the removal of people who have made the judiciary an instrument of political revenge is the first, fundamental step towards Poles regaining faith in justice, not as an empty slogan. The Tribunal is ours again. It is Polish, not party-affiliated. Will the Democrats restore our Supreme Court when they win the midterms?
