The sugar industry paid Harvard scientists to demonize fat so they could sell more sugar. That happened. They wanted fat to become the enemy. They wanted carbohydrates and sugar to look harmless. So they paid respected scientists at one of the most prestigious universities in the world to shift the blame away from sugar and put it onto fat. Then the machine went to work. The scientists published the research. The institutions treated it as truth. The government built nutritional recommendations around it. The media repeated it. Doctors believed it. And the public obeyed it. Suddenly, fat was evil. People stopped eating natural fats and started buying “low-fat” everything. Low-fat yogurt. Low-fat cereal. Low-fat snacks. Low-fat processed garbage filled with sugar. The food industry removed the fat, added sugar and sold the result back to us as health food. They didn’t make people healthier. They made billions. Now we know that sugar was never harmless. Excessive sugar destroys your metabolic health, spikes your blood sugar, drives cravings and contributes to obesity and disease. And fat was never the enemy they told us it was. Your body needs fat. Your hormones need fat. Your brain needs fat. Natural, healthy fats are essential to human health. But this post isn’t only about sugar. This is just the tip of the iceberg. If the sugar industry could buy influence at Harvard and reshape the entire world’s understanding of nutrition, what else has been bought? What else has been buried? What other “scientific facts” were created by industries that stood to make billions of dollars from the conclusion? Pharmaceutical companies fund medical research. Food companies fund nutrition research. Chemical companies fund safety research. Technology companies fund research about technology. Every industry has an incentive to purchase the answer it needs and then place the word “science” on top of it. Everything has been corrupted. Science is no longer some pure, sacred institution floating above money, power and politics. Scientists need funding. Universities need funding. Journals need funding. Institutions need funding. And the people providing that funding usually want a return on their investment. So there is no such thing as “trusting the science” anymore. Whose science? Who paid for it? Who selected the evidence? Who benefited from the conclusion? What was ignored? What was buried? What were you never allowed to question? The institution of science has been corrupted so deeply that you cannot blindly trust the label anymore. You have to investigate. You have to follow the money. You have to question the incentives. You have to think for yourself. The sugar scandal wasn’t an isolated mistake. It was a warning. And it was only the beginning.
