Daily thoughts #25 Standard is evolving. Its quite cool to see. At the PT the best performing decks were decks praying on Cub - Spellementals, Temur Harmonizer and to some extent the winning UB Demons deck. But now? Cub is gone. I’ve played two matches versus Cub this week. Instead the decks that are good against interaction stepped up. MonoGreen Landfall is back, UB Mid might not be mid anymore, and Lessons is great again. From the good PT decks only Demons seem to have a shot. On the other hand Cub seems to be solid against the three decks I listed above. I anticipate it will do well at either Milwaukee or AC 11. As for me personally, I’m leaning towards locking Lessons for the RC in a month - the deck is hard to play, hard to tune, and I want a lot of reps. It might not be the best choice for a given week, but it should ve amongst the top couple decks every week. Deck familiarity also adds a lot of + folks might overestimate their Lessons matchup as there us a big delta between good and bad Lessons players. Standard is fun and I’m excited to see where it’s headed. 😇
