Overextended empathy is weakening society. We’ve confused compassion with removing every consequence, lowering every standard, and protecting people from every uncomfortable emotion. That isn’t empathy. It’s infantilization. When you constantly treat adults as fragile, you don’t help them—you teach them that they’re incapable. You create a nerfed society where nobody is expected to tolerate discomfort, accept responsibility, or grow through adversity. Sometimes people need understanding. Sometimes they need support. But sometimes what they need is the truth. They need discipline. They need accountability. They need strength. Real empathy doesn’t keep people weak. It cares enough to help them become strong.
