This little flag-waving stunt on the overpass later today is meaningless with the Big Beautiful Bill that was passed early yesterday. A majority of Americans didn't want it. Fifty-five percent of voters said that they oppose the bill, while 29% said they support it and 16% were unsure. Among Republicans, 67% said they support the act, while a larger 87% of Democrats oppose it. Americans had no say in the governance of our country. Congress just ignored the will of the people, with an overall majority not wanting it. This is taxation without representation. Millions will lose their Medicaid. Millions will lose their SNAP and go hungry. Kids going to school will lose free breakfasts/lunches that have been shown to increase individual testing scores. The money clawed away from Medicaid means you will be paying higher taxes now to make up the shortfalls. Rural hospitals, health centers/clinics, and ambulance services will close. Nursing homes and group homes will shutter due to severe cuts in the Medicaid waiver program. You can celebrate the 4th of July. I will not. What happened in Congress has shown that we truly don't have any independence or voice in this country, period. Enjoy your fraudulent holiday as it is now meaningless.
