“I mean to say we have only just met! It’s not proper! I do not even know your name, or if you are promised to another! I should die of embarrassment if we should do…such a thing, and then your family should find out upon rescuing them!” “You cannot speak my name without this…kiss. So it matters not, nor have I done this with any other before, so cease flailing about!” She swam right up to him and placed her hands on his cheeks. Though her expression was as dour as ever, her eyes did not meet his and looked below to the sea. Thinking she was surely embarrassed at the situation she’d been put in, Oliver gave a last desperate attempt. He knew little of the fey, and even less of the ocean residing ones. Ever since the factories had begun spilling out into the countryside, sightings had been less and less, and the old town traditions of appeasement with the local forests had faded with time. But his life was already indebted to hers now, and his prior actions had already condemned his soul from God's kingdom. If he was lucky, this siren might own his soul with such knowledge. And while he had long feared the Devil’s strength, this woman had a grip so great that if it came to tug-of-war, he would bet on her. If he was doomed, he would at least be proper.
