My passion for cinema is a never-ending journey that has taken me to countless magical and unforgettable destinations - in the form of films. I have explored jaw dropping worlds, and witnessed astonishing stories unfold before my eyes. Ryan Coogler’s Sinners is undoubtedly one of those destinations - a film that stirred something deep within me, and I know that I will be revisiting it time and time again. A visceral, gritty and gory vampire film like no other before it, Sinners is an ode to the power, spirit, and evolution of Delta Blues music - featuring one of the richest most soul stirring soundtracks that I have heard in recent years, including a typically stunning score by Ludwig Göransson. It’s also a vibrant celebration of heritage and culture, and above all, a work deeply rooted in the Black American experience during the Jim Crow era. A story that’s tragic, moving and haunting, but also sexy and action packed; and a viewing experience that is as powerful as it is unforgettable. Additionally, Sinners boasts EXCELLENT performances by Michael B Jordan, Hailee Steinfeld, Wunmi Mosaku, Miles Caton and Jack O’Connell. This is not a complete review of the film. I have a lot going through my mind, as Sinners is a film I need to sit with, process and return to. However, I would definitely say this: Sinners is not only one of the greatest and most stylish films that I have seen in the 2020s, it is also an essential cinematic experience that needs to seen on the biggest screen possible, preferably IMAX. Hands down Coogler’s best work to date; a highly recommended masterpiece! #RyanCoogler #Sinners #MichaelBJordan #HaileeSteinfeld ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
