I still think peak state is the easiest way to be great socially. When you feel amazing, everything flows more naturally. You’re expressive. You laugh. You speak your mind. You bring energy into the conversation instead of trying to manufacture every word. So yes, I want to get into the best state I can before I go out. That’s my first move. But some nights you won’t feel at your peak. Maybe you’re tired. Maybe you get in your head. Maybe it takes time to warm up. You still need to be able to connect. That’s where social skills come in. You can start the conversation. Listen. Say what you actually think. Lead it somewhere interesting. Laugh when something’s funny. If a moment is awkward, move through it. And you should keep improving those skills even when your state is great. The better you get socially, the more you can do with that energy when you have it—and the less you depend on it when you don’t. Aim for peak state. Practice social skills every time. Build both.
