Velvet Avery and I enjoyed a nice luncheon with the Westmoreland Dems this afternoon. One of Pittsburgh Overpass Projects friends and supporter, Chair of the Westmoreland Dems, Michelle Milan McFall invited us. Michelle recognized us to fellow Dems and visitors and expressed her fondness of our work. She has been following our work from the beginning. We look forward to making stronger connections and building new relationships with our neighboring counties, we are all in this together. But the real highlight of the afternoon was the speaker. Joanna McClinton, the first woman Speaker of the Pa. House of Representatives. We got to learn a little about her past, her entry into politics and the work she is doing now. It was inspiring to witness her optimism, passion and energy with which she brings to her work. When talking to her Velvet and I told her a little about the work POP does. She expressed her appreciation to us and the importance of what we do. Moral of this story. The relationships we are cultivating on the overpasses are building bridges and uniting folks who might never have met otherwise. I hope you are as proud of what we do on the overpasses as I am. We are making a difference, people notice and appreciate our work.
