All the worst people: “ The right-wing influencer behind the false rumor that Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico was in a psychiatric hospital has a long history of posts praising Nazi Germany and attacking Jewish, Black and Muslim people, according to a Guardian investigation. Ryan Amacher, who goes by Rhein Amacher online and worked for the Trump campaign in 2024, called an Ohio psychiatric hospital three times trying to confirm the hoax, giving a fake name and admitting he “made up” a patient code “to bypass the facility’s security restrictions.” The rumor fell apart within hours, but not before a staffer on Republican Ken Paxton’s campaign boosted it, influencer Nick Sortor posted a clip claiming the hospital “CONFIRMS” it, and Elon Musk replied “!!” The Guardian found Amacher has called for “modern Freikorps volunteers” to “purge the German nation,” a reference to the paramilitary groups that came before the Nazi party, and has called Muslims “sub-human.” He has also posted more than 30 times calling for “remigration,” the mass deportation of migrants, and urged Americans to “hunt them down” if the government won’t deport them. Neither Amacher nor the Paxton campaign responded to the Guardian, and Amacher has reportedly said his lawyer gave him a “stand down order.” From Aaron Parnas newsletter
