So following up from yesterday’s protests, were there organisers at any of the protests for various progressive groups? I don’t mean the democrats since they’ve been largely useless in the face of the MAGA onslaught. Were DSA or PSL at the protests organising? Anyone link up with either? Protests are a great first step, but the big issue for the last few protests is they get people activated then don’t know what to do with the activated population. Going out with your sick protest signs is a great first step, but the purpose of the protest is to bring activated people together to organise and plan your next actions. Further protests. General strikes. Even just mutual aid events like skills clinics or food banking. Anything is useful as long as you’re out there together building up the community. MAGA have their community. They are united in their hate of people not like them. What we need to do is form our own community, but build it out of love and support for each other. Also, and I fucking hate to say this, but we also need space in our community to let people who want to leave MAGA to come in. That said, we must be absolutely intolerant of them bringing in their hate and ignorance with them into our group. Understanding the Paradox of Tolerance is going to be absolutely fundamental going forward.
