I have been feeling really weird today. I think it’s due to a gig job ending with a whimper. Money has never been amazingly abundant during my freelancing years (2023-present), and once again, we have to limp to the end of the month. That said, I do have some substitute teaching monies coming in. I really enjoyed teaching art with another teacher, and they really needed the help—overfilled classes, no breaks, tons of kids with various needs. I then did some TK work, and I have realized that TK is *hard*. There’s zero breaks except for nap time. Of course, some of the kids really took a shine to me and we had fun playing tag or working on filling up a dollhouse. I kept asking if we could put things on the roof, which they found hilarious. We’re still stuck in a liminal space, trying to sell our house. Based on local data, the housing market is suffering. Prices are going down. We had to reduce. Million dollar homes are going for 900k or lower. I know, I know, tough problems to have, but we could use every penny as we prepare to GTFO of the USA. It’s so weird to know that I’m good at a lot of things, but never really specialized. I helped a friend with a podcast, cleaning the audio. I can teach art, science, math, music. I play upright bass at night or fiddle with TAL Noisemaker and create interesting synth sounds. I write grants. What the f does that add up to? Nothing wearing a suit and tie, I guess. Just let us sell this house and get away from the burgeoning fascism. It’s really bringing me down. For my friends: I have been accumulating info on how to get out of the USA and go to Costa Rica and have been intersecting with Rainbow Rescue, an LGBTQ org in Grecia.
