“ Crushing debt is souring Gen Z on politics, threatening Republicans and raising alarms about disillusionment across the board, according to a Politico Magazine report. Gen Z adults now carry higher credit card, auto loan, and personal loan balances than millennials did at the same age, with record drops in credit scores and rising delinquencies. Unemployment for 20- to 24-year-olds is about 8 percent, nearly double the national rate, and entry-level job openings have fallen 35 percent since 2023. Many young voters who backed Trump in 2024 over his promises to lower prices now say he failed them amid tariffs and the Iran war, and are preparing to reject the GOP in the midterms. But experts warn the bigger risk is that young people give up on voting altogether, with only 33 percent saying they’ll definitely vote and just 15 percent saying they trust the federal government. ‘Everything’s too damn expensive. Nobody has any money. The job market is shit for young people,’ said Rep. Maxwell Frost, the only Gen Z member of Congress.” From Aaron Parnas newsletter
