Lightning cracks the sky. A twisting hunk of metal and fire plummets through the clouds toward a concrete jungle far below. Thunder rumbles the earth beneath. The cargo pod of the USCSS INTREPID slams into a water reservoir, sending waves splashing out onto the sidewalk. As the metal sinks into the bracken water, a solitary figure emerges from a rupture in the hull, silhouetted against the flames still licking the bent and broken remnants. A single DRONE emerges, the hulking figure diving into the water and swimming effortlessly to the concrete, where it emerges as a wraith in the depths of the night. Sirens flock toward the disturbance. The DRONE flees, running on all fours to disappear into the shadows until it can strike. ——————————— Hello! I've done many a Xenomorph storyline in the past and though the setup is familiar, the execution may be different this time around. Rather than a large-scale invasion, a singular Drone will be terrorizing your character's local town, whether that's Gotham, Jump City, New York, Metropolis, or a little mountain village. This is open to anyone in the MVRP space that's interested in participating. The DRONE will be skulking throughout the city, leaving grisly carnage in its wake. The same content expectations stated in the pinned post apply to this entire storyline. Any injuries dealt during this storyline event are freely retconnable by the writer (you). If you want a character to experience a serious injury, let me know. I will not be dialing down the Xenomorph's renowned hyperviolent traits regardless, so this will be an Opt-In event using the hashtag #XenomorphHunt. — "What if I want to band together with other characters to take it out?” That's fine, in fact, banding together to face the monster is a time-honored classic. — "What if I don't want to band together but I want to acknowledge other threads that have happened for a sense of continuity? In other words, if my character lives in Gotham but wouldn't team up with anyone, but finds the aftermath of a battle/death, do I need to team up with a group to take on the drone?" That's fine too! And no, you don't need to team up. The concept is that each interaction, unless intentionally linked together, takes place within its own continuity - so every Batman or Spider-Man can take on their own Drone if they choose to. — "Is there really only one drone?" The event starts with a single drone. ;) — "How long will the event last?" From August 18th to September 1st, but it can end sooner than that if all the threads are wrapped up. — "I don't want to fight a drone, I want more of a challenge for my character!" On a case-by-case basis, any Xenomorph from the caste thread can be utilized.
