Unfortunately, the people who could benefit from coaching the most are often the most resistant to it. They don’t know what they don’t know. If they already recognized the patterns holding them back, they might have sought help and changed them by now. Meanwhile, the most successful people are often the most coachable. They actively seek feedback, love being challenged, and constantly look for ways to improve. That openness is one of the reasons they became successful in the first place. So how do we reach resistant people? We don’t shame them or tell them their entire life is broken. We help them see the gap between where they are and where they want to be. We demonstrate the value of coaching through real results, ask questions that expose their blind spots, and let them experience one breakthrough for themselves. People rarely accept coaching because you tell them they need it. They accept it when they finally see what it could unlock.
