Book of the Week The Left and the Lucky by Will Vlautin 256 pages April 2026 A touching story about an 8 year old boy experiencing very troubled family circumstances, and his growing relationship with a house-painter neighbor. Everybody's damaged in some way, but what matters is whether you give in to the damage or keep on keeping on. Vlautin populates the story with entertaining house painting colleagues, heartbreaking family dysfunctionality, and an all too rare, sensitive portrayal of positive male bonding. Will Vlautin also wrote the novel that spawned the Steve Buscemi movie, Lean On Pete. Anyone else read this book
