There was herding mentality: Uniform Contentment The sheep grazed in uniform contentment Upon the green, grassy, meadows Unaware of anything Other than their immediate surroundings With herded thoughts only of feeling secure Ingrained into their illusory, tranquil, existence And the foraging of the sheep winds down along the road They sat in the Sunday church With the preacher preaching from the pulpit While transforming emotional innuendos Into uniform contentment Unaware of anything Other than their immediate surroundings With herded thoughts only of feeling secure Ingrained into their illusory, tranquil, existence And the preaching of the sermon winds down along the road As they drive off to their cookie-cutter homes Sprouting finely manicured, green, grassy, lawns With TV's blaring false advertisements And distant bombs blasting in war-torn countries With neighborhood chats of "How's your family?" And "What great hospitality at the charity ball." And the preaching of the sermon winds down along the road Fallen upon deaf ears By those of an aberrant nature Grazing individually Attune to non-conformist thoughts And so...
